Thanks to the handy paraphrasing from William Shakespeare.
This is going to be a controversial blog. It's something I must deviate from my new schedule of Tuesday/ Thursday blog notes to bring up the now old report that legendary Penn State football coach, Joe Paterno has died after a two month struggle with lung cancer. Now, I know that lung cancer is a rough way to pass and I wouldn't wish it on my worse enemy. That being said, perhaps there is a merciful God that wished to spare Joe Pa of the damning allegations that are sure to come out from the massive cover-up of children being sexually abused, alledgedly, by his former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky. The surface things that have been made aware of since late October aren't flattering to Paterno. He heard something went on, he went to the school president Graham Spanier, then went about and enjoyed the perks of being the man in charge. No follow up though Sandusky still enjoyed emeritus status at Penn State.
It was said that maybe Mike McQueary, who caught Sandusky raping a child in the shower did not give Paterno the full details of what he witnessed..if that's the case he lied to the grand jury but that is another matter. For a person who spent the majority of their life instilling values and accountability into young men and along the way becoming. arguably, the most powerful person in all of sports; to have not taken the concerns beyond the school president was reprehensible. When he still sees Sandusky roaming the offices of Beaver Stadium as if he owned the place and not at least ask "What the hell, Graham?" shows an alarming lack of care.
according to ABCnews.com he didn't know how to handle the accusations: http://abcnews.go.com/US/joe-paterno-admits-handle-sex-allegation/story?id=15362562#.Txxrd29SQbI at the very best perhaps at 84 when he says he never heard of men raping men, he was out of touch with people he should be leading and of course at the worst he was lying. Either way, the man should have been gone well before this time.
For anyone who may say "should we let one lapse of judgment, no matter how grave, mark the man" I bring up Orenthal James Simpson. O.J. as most of us know him by, did you know that twice he broke the single game rushing record? Do you remember he was the first running back to rush for over 2000 yards? Do you know that he was the elite player in the NFL? Do we remember he was very charitable in his NFL career? He was on his way to becoming a good football commentator and was pitching cars for Hertz. He developed a nice comic touch and was instrumental in making the "Naked Gun" movies the franchise they were. Every bit as important as Priscilla Presley and George Kennedy...OR, do you remember a white bronco chase and "If it doesn't fit you must acquit". Sadly, Joe Paterno will be remembered as an enabler. What's even more sad about it is that he knew he should have been what he preached.

Search for Tomorrow: a SOPA opera
Let's get one thing off the bat right now, I don't necessarily disagree with protecting ones intellectual property. The person that came up with the idea richly deserves the spoils for their hard work. That's the one thing about the conservative ideal I do agree with. A great turn of a phrase, a wonderful movement in a opera or great line in our favorite song belongs to the creator of that speech, opera or song. A great idea in business belongs to that person. I think we get the gist here.
I write under the nom de plume "A_Blues_Clue". Clearly I took that from the kids show "Blue's Clues". I have taken great strides to differentiate between the left wing, blue state rantings of a frustrated American and the cute way for children to put two and two together. Now my blog and nom de plume have never been given that dreadful cease and desist order from the creators so I believe that I have not lifted intellectual property but rather covered my bases so there is no confusion between this http://www.dvddisk.net/media/import/img_disk/blues-clues-coloring-pages.jpg and my little ego boost.
While I believe that intellectual property does belong to the creator, there is a dual responsibility in this. We don't need Representative Lamar S. Smith or Senator Marco Rubio to curtail internet rights and trample on the Constitutional issues of free speech. The creator of the great idea they have has every opportunity to copywrite, patent, market whatever his or her idea so that the world sees this idea is theirs!
I know as a college student I can't even say "looking out for love, big, big love" without giving a shout out to Lindsey Buckingham or write under "A_Blues_Clue" without either acknowledging or citing my sources. If we remember the lessons of high school and cite our sources and become more forthcoming then there is no need for censorship. There is no need to be up in arms over what we can and can not see.
I am aware this is about much more than "citations" and "confusion" but this is one time Ole Blue will play along and give people the benefit of the doubt...

Living in America...
well, ole Blue disappeared for a while. I do apologize for that. Personal life has a way of doing that. I am preparing for a wedding, I took my first failure in school and the holidays made for a hectic time in the blue blogosphere. But I have noticed things. NDAA, candidates tying dogs to roofs of cars, the blatant racism thrown the way of PBHO. Yes, Blue has noticed.
Now I have also noticed an old KKK slogan being foist forward as a catchy little phrase for one Mitt Romney. "America For Americans." Let's think about that for a second shall we? America for Americans. Appropriated by Willard "Mitt" Romney...the phrase "America for Americans" has been around sine the 1920's and it was used for the KKK to recruit volunteers. Don't believe Blue? It's okay, I am partisan, so to show you how vulgar this is, I actually went to the KKK site...http://originalknightsofamerica.webs.com/newsletter.htm...You're welcomed to look at it. Then in 1950 we have this bit of love from the whitest assholes you know https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOuX7e9mcQo3GpvoFkczmCEsH3Ee6nz-NYsikb1FaOasb_o9QMvCnX6p0fECj4XHdzdtNY4ZPGOe_ClMZdyPvFgV9C1jiMOeydd9LF7IL1GA81kP9A9tW9g0cPVt4ez6OKie5oYTApHA/s1600/kkk+kaa+jpg.jpg . Again, look at it if you have any doubts as to what I am saying.
Now to look that up was all of 35 seconds of my time. To verify it took all of a minute. I'm just a line cook and a community college student. I made the correlation between KKK, Racism, and Romney and didn't even break a sweat. IF we are to believe that Mitt made a simple mistake, then the man is clearly too stupid to run a country if a middle aged community college student found this information out and has more than the two sites that are being shown to back up his ascertation. If he truly did not know, that candidate treads a line of comical and dangerous not seen since the Shrub. I'm going out on a limb here, he knows. If he is not consciously or willingly racist, the son of a bitch is pandering to that vote. We have to be above that. We as a people have to notice that a day after we celebrate the legacy of Dr. King, celebrate the 70th birthday of Muhammad Ali, that this kind of divisive, race baiting tactic can not continue to be accepted as "just politics." We have to be aware of our history, we have to know what the Constitution says. If not, we just believe that its all about guns and states...but that will be fine because you won't have the right to think anything but that if YOU as an uninformed voter continue to vote against your best interest because Mittens has a catchy phrase. stop taking your news in cute soundbites investigate, garner a fucking clue or else...I won't speculate, I will let you think of your own worse case scenario. and if it comes back to "Obama is a communist, fascist, socialist, Nazi"...then I guess you get the country you deserve and the abhorrence of REAL Americans
